"Keep Quiet," Minister Balaam Barugahara Advises Freed NUP Supporter Olivia Lutaaya

The State Minister for the Youth, Balaam Barugahara has advised National Unity Platform-NUP supporter Olivia Lutaaya to keep quiet after being freed from prison after four years of incarceration for political crimes committed prior to the 2021 general elections.

Olivia Lutaaya is among the 19 prisoners who were a few days ago given a presidential pardon by President Museveni.

According to Balaam, Lutaaya, out of the 19, is the only one who is going around speaking something that is not right. He said that whatever she was saying was not factual and she should keep quiet.

The Minister further advised her to be calm, speak the truth, take care of her child as well as seek mental support because she’s not alright.

“Whatever Olivia said is incorrect. Among the 19 people, sheโ€™s the only one speaking out. I urge her to remain calm, focus on taking care of her child, speak the truth, and seek help from a psychiatrist.” Balaam said.

Additionally, Balaam also confirmed visiting the recently released prisoners while they were still behind bars. He said that he spoke to them as well as providing strategic guidance. The event’s organizer also asked them not to rely on their party because if it cared so much about getting them released it wouldn’t have assigned interns as their lawyers.

Furthermore, Balaam also requested the prison authorities to put in place support systems, including psychiatrists, to assist those who are released, as they often need mental health support.

Regarding to Sanya Muhydin who has been on various media tours blasting NUP and Hon Kyagulanyi, the Minister said that they met with him and he narrated what the Kavule party promised him. However, he is now free and no longer blindsided. He is at liberty to support any party of his choice according to Balaam.
