VIDEO: Elite High School Students Attend Prom in a Chopper to Cause Storm on Social Media

A video of Elite High School students attending their Prom Party 2024 in a chopper over the weekend has caused a storm on social media. The move has since caused a storm on social media, sparking a wide range of mixed reactions.

The 2024 Prom party that followed suit over the weekend caused delight of students and netizens as one of the sons of an “alleged” government official decided to hire a chopper worth millions of Ugandans shillings to attend the annual prom party.

On May 4th, a Saturday, students were eager to attend their Prom, which occurs before candidates start their final exams.

Most students arrived dressed in their best attire, while some even hired luxurious cars. One student arrived in a helicopter with his date. After exiting the helicopter, they were escorted into a luxurious car that transported them to the Prom venue.

According to an interview taken by NTV Uganda’s TNation Youth show hosts; Pam Malaika, and MC Ollo, it was revealed that the helicopter was hired from Bar Aviation at $1200 (approximately Ugandan Shillings 4.5 million), while the car, a V8 2022 Model, was hired for 6 hours at 3 million Ugandan Shillings.

This has since then raised a storm on social media with some netizens piercing holes in the planned kids’ move of spending over shillings 3million to hire a chopper for a 30 minutes flight deeming it uncalled for.

Others are commending the parents of the planned kids currently in the limelight for investing in their children’s dreams and providing them with a life they had always envisioned.

However, the State Minister for Higher Education in the Ugandan cabinet John Muyingo expressed dissatisfaction with the Prom trends, stating, “Are these things happening in Uganda? Where are we going? Money is a scarce resource; it shouldn’t be given out and spent like that.
